Who’s On Your Site

Have you wondered how many people are on your site at any given time? whos.amung.us claims to provide you this count in real time. All with a simple img tag, just copy and paste the code provided and you’re off. No registration or login required.

We do not have details on how they are doing it or what they mean by real time, so you be the judge of how accurate it is. Clicking the link will take you to the recent visitors page for your site. A list of pages that are viewed and how long ago it was viewed is provided.

To get the code, go to http://whos.amung.us and read the simple page. Our counter is below.

I think it’s a hoax…I’m viewing your site and the widget still says zero…hmmm…maybe this is an opinion based widget and the zero result is what the widget thinks of me?

LOL, maybe it’s an intelligent widget.

But, in all seriousness, I don’t believe that it’s a hoax. More likely it’s just a little bit buggy. Based on what I can tell, each visitor triggers the image link and is logged on their end. At the same time, the image is generated on the fly based on the log. This type of process can be prone to some minor errors. This is all just an assumption as we don’t know exactly how it works.

BTW, the way the link works. You go to whos.amung.us to grab the link. Each visit to that page generates a random link and is used for tracking. Since there is no registration required, each user who gets their random link must use that link and not share that link. If you look at your counter and click through on your site, you will notice that it looks funny.
